The People’s School is a school that embraces the
formula “Of the People, By the People, For the People”. Our small non-profit organization unites
those with a passion to share their knowledge with those with a passion for learning. Our School has a very small budget
and no physical school building. Instead, we count upon the people of Topeka to volunteer their time as teachers, administrative
help, and catalog distributors. We rely upon the businesses and organizations of Topeka to volunteer their meeting rooms
for use as class rooms when those rooms would normally sit empty. Without the people of our community, there is no People’s
School. We
offer non-credit mini-classes that are very low cost, very low stress, and open to everyone. For the first time, this
catalog also includes class listing from other organizations and business in Topeka. We’ve decided to include
these classes to bring more learning opportunities to more individuals in our community. We are striving to host the
most inclusive and diverse classes ever imagined. Our School is dedicated to individual, family and greater community
development. We facilitate sustainable, healthful, balanced and broad-based education and networking opportunities.
The School contracts with primarily nonprofessional teachers, though many of our instructors have credentials in their area
of expertise that are impressive and extensive. The relevant background of the instructor is detailed in each
class description. The
School’s staff facilitates class registration, and handles the administrative duties of classes offered through The
People’s School. Deep in our hearts, we believe The People’s School makes our community a better place and
with your help our community school will continue to grow and help build a stronger individuals and more effective citizens.
Our Staff
At this time, The People's School is exclusively a volunteer staff. We are
always looking for others who believe in the vision of The People's School to help find teachers, class locations, host
classes, help distribute catalogs, and spread the word about our little school. If you can help, please contact our school director (who is also a volunteer).
With the support of our community through sponsorships, donations, and grants
we hope that The School will be able to offer a modest salary to these dedicated volunteers in the future. To assure
the long-term sustainability of our School we have the funding to allow a core staff to organize The School's efforts.
